This is a revised edition which includes a section on the issues of the late 1980s with the growth of AIDS, HIV infection and the development in the field of dealers and users. The author discusses the lethal practice of injecting, the issue of women and drugs - both users and dealers, policing patterns, trafficking and consumption trends and medical policy and drugs company developments. Updates in the law and on each substance are included. The author was a special correspondent for "New Musical Express" on social and political issues and contributes to "Time Out", "New Statesman", "The Observer" and "The Guardian". He is an experienced youth worker.
