Police And Criminal Evidence Act 1984 (S.60(1)(A), S.60A(1) And S.66(1))

This publication contains the revised Codes of Practice A to F issued by the Home Secretary under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984, effective from 1st August 2004. The Codes regulate police powers and procedures in the investigation of crime and set down safeguards for members of the public. They are: Code A on stop and search powers; Code B regarding the searching of premises and seizure of property; Code C on detention, treatment and questioning; Code D on identification of persons in connection with the investigation of offences and the keeping of accurate and reliable criminal records; Code E on the audio recording of interviews with suspects; and Code F regarding the visual recording of interviews.
